Cute Easy Nail Art For Beginners

Hello everyone!
This post is about a cute, simple and easy to do nail art which each one of you can carry off without looking over the top..
This nail art has been done by a dear and creative friend of mine Dr Ashwathi.

To begin with apply a light pink nail paint as a base. A nail paint from Etude has been used here. Apply two coats of the nail paint.

Then using a white nail art cone or pen make a small white dot exactly at the center of your nail. Using a yellow nail art pen draw small petals around the white dot to make a flower at the center of the nail. That's it. You have cute and stylish nails in simple steps. Hope you liked the tutorial.

P.S-I have not grown my nails as being a doctor I am in the habit of keeping my nails short always..Will try to grow them for future tutorials..

Blistex Lip Balm Review

Hello everyone!
Today I am going to review one of my most favorite lip balm - Blistex Lip Balm. The variant which I am reviewing is the one available In India. In India it is manufactured and marketed by Elder Pharma and is available only at medical stores.

Quantity 4.25g

Price Rs 105

Ingredients

Moving on to the review let's see what the product claims-
Helps prevent and temporarily protects chapped, cracked or windburned lips.
Helps prevent sunburn.
Higher SPF provides more sunburn protection.

My experience with there product-
Coming from Blistex, the American lip care Specialist I was expecting a good product since I had read rave reviews about their lip balms and I must say I was not disappointed.
I purchased this lip balm in winter while my lips were really chapped and they were  burning and flaking.
I tried other lip balms and home remedies but nothing seemed to help. I spotted this lip balm at my local chemist I purchased it without a second thought and I am so happy I did..
On application the lip balm gives a cooling sensation to the lips, nothing unpleasant though. It immediately softens and moisturizes the lips.It is colorless and has a medicinal odour that fades off soon after application. The hygienic stick packaging is a plus.

It successfully kept my lips moisturized for 3-4 hours in AC environment. The best part about the lip balm was that though it doesn't claim to cure chapped lips it did heal my cracked lips when everything else had failed... It came as a savior..It is also great to wear under mat lippies.
The only con about this product is the availability as only select chemists stock it.

Repurchase
I am already on my second stick.

Rating
4.5/5 (-0.5 due to availability issues)

Why Curd Is My Holy Grail!

I searched high and low for my set of holy grails-my HG cleanser/moisturizer/face wash/shampoo etc.  and I must admit I met with a lot of disappointments. It never struck me that my HG had been lying quietly in my refrigerator all this while. It had always been my HG only I found that out recently..Read on to find out why I call curd my all in one HG-

BENEFITS GALORE-
Curd is a wonderful source of-
·         Lactic acid – An alpha hydroxy acid that aids in the shedding of dead skin cells and increases the cell turnover. Also acts as a great moisturizer, anti tan, anti dullness, anti pigmentation and anti ageing.
·         Essential fats – Add that healthy glow and shine to hair/skin
·         Anti bacterial – Hence widely used in fighting dandruff
·         Proteins – Hence makes the hair stronger
·         Calcium – great manicures are made up of strong nails first, isn’t it?
·         B complex vitamins – reduces pigmentation
·         Essential minerals like zinc ,magnesium ,potassium all of which adds to the health of hair, skin and nails

HOW I USE CURD AS MY ALL IN ONE HG -
·         Face wash/cleanser – A mixture of curd and rose water is my HG cleanser. Just massage this mixture for a minute into your skin and wash it off the way you would with your regular cleanser and watch the difference. Thanks to AHAs the skin instantly looks fresh and alive!

·         Anti blemish pack – Mix curd and lemon together and apply the mixture on the affected areas. Leave it on for at least 20min and then rinse off. The difference is visible in the first use itself and with regular usage one can see lasting results-courtesy the B  Complex and AHAs. Having freckles myself it is the only thing I trust to safely and effectively lighten the blemishes. It is also great for fading the post inflammatory acne marks.

·         Anti dandruff scalp cleanser – A pack of curd and lemon when applied to the scalp acts as a great anti dandruff due to the anti bacterial properties present in the pack .Apply all over the scalp before shampoo. Leave the pack on for 20-30min and rinse. It thoroughly cleanses the scalp and reduces dandruff.

·         Conditioner – Curd is a wonderful conditioner owing to all the essential minerals and lactic acid content.  It leaves the hair soft and smooth. I use curd as a conditioner in two ways – a mixture of curd and henna or a mixture of curd and olive oil on days when my hair feels dry and damaged. It makes the hair shiny and manageable and the results are way better than some of the expensive commercial conditioners I have used.

·         Anti acne – The zinc in the curd is great for fighting acne. Just dab some curd on the zit overnight/before bath and wash off. The inflammation and infection is greatly reduced.

·         Moisturizer – A pack of curd and honey never fails me when my skin gets dry and lifeless. The lactic acid immediately smoothens the skin and adds a healthy glow.

·         Massage cream – A mixture of curd and turmeric is my favorite massage cream in my DIY facials and enhances the complexion wonderfully.

·         Exfoliating scrub – Use curd and oats or curd and gram flour as an exfoliator and be amazed. It effectively yet mildly exfoliates and renews the skin.

·         Anti tan – being fair and having freckles I am prone to getting tanned very easily. I have used many products-commercial and DIY and have concluded that curd beats them all when it comes to de-tanning. Its quick, soothing and very effective.

·         Anti ageing – A mixture of curd and olive oil applied regularly is one of the best anti ageing packs ever. It softens dry skin , hydrates, makes the skin plump and reduces wrinkles fine lines and age spots.
So this is why curd is my all in one HG and will always be…I hope after reading this it becomes your HG too…

How To Combat Under Eye Dryness

"Eyes speak a thousand  words....." and beautiful bright eyes can make a person look charming..
However dullness and dryness around the eyes takes away the charm-no matter how attractive a person maybe otherwise. And it isn't about wrinkles, dark circles or crow's feet sometimes-its plain dryness under the eyes often associated with aging skin..Something one may commonly notice in the late twenties or early thirties..
So here are a few tips to combat under eyes dryness :

1.PROTECTION
Prevention is better than cure so it is always better to take the necessary precautions beforehand.
Use good quality sunglasses with UV filters to protect yourself from solar damage - specially when stepping out in the sun between 12-4pm.
Always make it a point to keep yourself well hydrated.Drink at least 3-4 liters of  water daily.Besides good ol water, coconut water and watermelon juice are also great ways to keep yourself hydrated.
 Keep your skin well moisturised.

2.AVOID
Firstly use an under eye cream/lotion/gel which is free from alcohol since alcohol would further dry out the skin. Also avoid harsh cleansers with alcohol/salicylic acid in the under eye area.
Make sure you rid your skin of any pigment deposition from your mascaras or kohls.Using oil for removing the same is a good idea since it would also act as a moisturizer.

3.HEAL
To treat the under eye dryness you make use a good under eye cream.Creams would be a better bet than lotions or gels since they being oil based will be able to hold the moisture in for a longer period.
Look for key ingredients like hyaluronic acid/lactic acid/vitamin E/linolenic acid whic are effective in combating dryness.
Amongst the natural ingredients look out for almond extracts, soy extracts, olive extracts, avocado extracts, aloe, walnut extracts.

Using oils under the eye and bed time-giving a gentle massage with your ring or little finger also helps reduce the dryness significantly-especially almond and olive oil in case of severe dryness.

4.DIET
Have a diet rich in omega 3 fatty acids like flax seeds, salmon, walnuts and it will keep the under eye skin as well as your entire face glowing.

You may even take fish oil supplements.

Hope these tips help you in achieving a supple healthy under eye skin...
